Clyde C. Goad

Abstract: The positioning component of a highway mapping project un- der development at The Ohio State University which incorporates Global Positioning System receivers used in differential mode along with precise wheel count sensors and aircraft-quality gyros is pre- sented. This highway mapping van plus associated software and hardware has been under development for approximately one year and three months. The original goal was to provide almost contin- uous routing information at the 15 meter level or better. It was the hope of the project personnel to provide positioning information in the range of 5-10 meters.
