Abstract: | Measurements at the University of Leeds using UTC(USN0) as reference and at VNIIFTRI using UTC(SU) have attempted to establish the stability of GLONASS system time. Random errors are reduced by averaging the results over 24-hour periods and over an ensemble of available space vehicles. No attempt has been made to synchronise measurements at the two sites. The time series obtained by taking data at basic intervals of l-day is then analysed using Allan-variance techniques to produce frequency-stability plots. Comparisons are made of the stability of (i) UTC references and GLONASS system time and (ii) the difference between UTC(USN0) and UTC(SU) as obtained by satellite time transfer. When differences are taken, thus eliminating GLONASS system time, a dramatic improvement in drift and frequency stability is noted. |
