Abstract: | Having developed a 20-channel dual GPVGLONASS receiver, the ISN has developed a real-time differential GPS/GLONASS system for aviation applications. Following previous GNSS flight trials, the UK National Air Traffic Services Ltd (NATS), instigated a research program with the aim of: proving a DGNSS system to CAT I accuracies; a transition from theory to reality. demonstrating both LAAS and RAAS scenarios. integrating the DGNSS system with avionics systems to provide guidance information for flight. comparing the combination of GPS and GLONASS against GPS alone to demonstrate the advantages of GLONASS augmentation. This paper will describe the DGNSS system developed at the ISN, and it’s subsequent integration with the avionics systems on board a test aircraft. A program of flight trials was performed and the analysis of data from these flights will also be presented. The results of the data analysis show that: l the DGNSS system developed can achieve CAT I accuracies in real-time. l DGNSS positions were used to successfully guide the aircraft. The results represent a world for GNSS use in aviation applications as far as the authors are aware. The results also showed that: l GLONASS accuracies are comparable to those of GPS in post-processing and will improve as further work is carried out to optimise the integration of the two systems. l the integrity and availability of the combined GPWGLONASS system was greater then for the GPS only system. |
