Self-Landmarking Intelligent Railroad Systems

Philip S. Noe and Randal A. Schreiber

Abstract: The SLIRS is a concept that makes use of the fact that the railroad is a landmark that can be made into a benchmark that has length as well as position. It is a landmark that can be ridden. It is shown in this paper that the railroad itself provides all the aiding that is required to provide the precision needed to navigate a robotic vehicle system.
