Abstract: | The HARRIS CV4138/A Signal Data Converter (GPS SDC) is a unit that responds to serial data from the AN/ARN-118 TACAN receiver or the GPS Receiver 3A and drives analog flight instruments and flight director computers. This paper explains how the output signals are derived from the GPS RCVR 3A ARINC 429 output messages. The internal circuits and their accuracies are explained including a novel circuit to drive distance wheels. The unit at present undergoing integration onto various Navy and Air Force platforms. |
