A.T.G.I.C. - A New Concept for GIC of Time Transfer

Francois G. Varieras

Abstract: The full monitoring of navigation signals emitted by Navstar constellation or other systems requires that every station being in charge of this function must be mutually synchronised with extreme accuracy: for example GPS time has to be reconstructed at a unique Mission and Processing Centre from numerous and frequent observations then diffused to the full network. This paper describes a method for monitoring data collection and transmission which unites both the principles used up to this day : GPS common view and two way time transfer : ATGIC is an acronym for Accurate Time for GPS Integrity Channel. Methods can be subsequently adapted and mathematically optimized for improving any feature of the monitoring. The powerful applications which can be anticipated for the system are simultaneously: - The centralized monitoring of GPS constellation, - The localisation of geostationary GPS overlay (GPS-WO), - The synthesis of localisation signal emitted by GPS-WO, - The construction of wide area differential GPS corrections (WADGPS).
