Abstract: | This paper presents a re8l time differential GPS sys- tem bssed on stand-crlone GPS C/A code snd carrier phase observables. The link between the remote and base stations is 8chieved by means of the PRODAT satellite-bared communication system, developed by the European Space Agency (ESA) for mobile com- munications. The differential algorithm is free of dynamic snd bi8s errors, enabling the b8se station to compute the real time position of the mobile station with an accuracy of 3 m (2 sigma), and its velocity within a few cm/s. This system proves the performance of diiFerenti8l G- PS when corrections sre transmitted through a geo- statiomuy (GEO) w&Bite link. This allows the base station to monitor remote mobile users over a much larger range then with terrestrial links. The need for a loeel link, which may be not apBilLLble or too com- plicated to be implemented is thus avoided. |
