Demonstration Project DGPS - A Coordinated R&D Effort of the German Space Agency DARA

Wolfgang Lechner

Abstract: Between 1992 and 1996 the German Space Agency DARA will support a number of DGPS related R&D activities within a coordinated effort, called ,,Demonstration-Project DGPS“. Under the technical coordination of the Avionics Center Braunschweig, more than ten different companies, agencies and research institutions will participate in this project to investigate key ele- ments for an operational use of DGPS for various applications. The solution of the integrity problem of SatNav systems for precision aircraft navigation including automatic landings, real time sun/eying in the centimeter-level and ionospheric modelling for precise real time navigation are only parts of the overall R&D program. The paper presents the goal of the various individual studies.
