High Dynamic Range Accelerometer for Guided Projectiles

James Sitomer and James Connelly

Abstract: This paper discusses the development of very large dynamic-range accelerometer systems through the integration of arrays of individual micromechani- cal accelerometers. This effort is currently being funded by ARPA under a contract from the U.S. Army Picatinny Arsenal. Currently, a 100,000-g ac- celerometer is under development with a 100-g ac- celerometer development effort scheduled to begin later this year.
