Applications of the HRG to Strategic Missions

Anthony Matthews and Roy Farmer

Abstract: The operational characteristics of the Hemispherical Resonator Gyro (HRG) are assessed in this technical paper to demonstrate its capability for new strategic missions. Two different HRG mechanizations are presented that show the HRG can be tailored to meet a broad range of missions. In conclusion, a brief analysis of three new inertial products, which use the newly developed small HRG indicates that the next generation of inertial equipment will greatly benefit from HRG technology.
