A DSP ASIC for Hybrid GPS-GLONASS Equipment

Eric Aardoom

Abstract: This paper describes the design of an ASIC for hybrid GPS/GLONASS equipment. The ASIC features an eight- channel GLONASS channel selector and an eight-channel pipelined multiplex correlation engine architecture, capa- ble of demodulating both the GPS and GLONASS C/A codes. The correlation engine has smaller dimensions than a traditional multi-channel architecture, making it suitable for integration with a CPU chip. This feature can lead to a significant reduction of the size of hybridGPS/GLONASS equipment.
