Abstract: | GPS and Differential GPS performance is generally quoted in terms of positioning accuracy. Such aspects as reliability and integrity of (D)GPS have been extensively discussed, but it is not a common practice to quantify them or to use them lo describe the performance of DGPS. Yet, the mathematical lools lo quantify reliability exist, and have been incorporated in software in order to predict precision and reliability of DGPS, and to study the effect of various paramelres on these figures. Results are presented - and in the case of predicted precision, compared with measured accuracy -, that show excellent positioning precision in most circumstances, bul highlv variable (and in many cases unacceptable) reliability. Finally, some guidelines are proposed lo improve Ute reliabilily of DGPS : choice of optimal parameters for DGPS positioning algorithms and/or augmentations lo DGPS. |
