Abstract: A Civil Satellite Augmentation Study was undertaken to investigate the system aspects and primary influencing factors of achieving Category 3 accuracies on a routine, worldwide basis. This study focused solely on meeting CAT3 requirements through satellite augmentation. The study provided a first look at a particular architecture, investigating the primary issues associated with the development of a spacecraft, constellation, and supporting ground infrastructure. Spacecraft payload and bus designs, constellation performance, and cost estimates are presented. This work was internally funded by The Aerospace Corporation.
