Abstract: | The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) arecurrently participating in a synergistic effort to deploy a meter level DGPS System for the inland rivers of the United States. The various resources and talents of each participating agency are being pooled to provide a system which is economical and of the highest integrity. The scope and the dynamics of this cooperative effort are described. Technical aspects are discussed, including system architecture, hardware, broadcast techniques, and test results. Current and anticipated uses of the system are identified and a schedule for the completion of major segments of the system is presented. |
