First Experiences with the DGPS Reference Station DIRES

Evelin Engler, Arne Jungstand and Dietmar Klahn

Abstract: A description of the development state of the high preci- sion DGPS station DIRES is given. Besides for standard DGPS service, the station is intended to transmit regional TEC information that can be used to get improved perfor- mance in high precision real time applications. It is shown that relative slant TEC measurement within an ac- curacy to better than 1 TEC unit on the basis of the used GPS receiver can be reached at. The main problem still to be solved within the limits given by the stations speci- fication is the real-time determination of Ll/L2 inter- channel biases, both in the GPS satellite system an the ground equipment. The paper illustrates the problems in detail. Some ways to solve the problems are outlined.
