Abstract: | The FM is investigating a means to enhance the integrity, accuracy, and availability of the Global Positioning System (GPS) with the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS). The WAAS enhances the integrity of the GPS by providing the integrity status of the GPS satellites via a geostationary satellite (GEO). The WMS GE0 broadcast also includes widearea differential GPS correc- tions which enable sensor accuracies sufficient for Catego- ry I precision approaches. In addition, the GE0 broadcast provides an additional ranging source to enhance the availability of the GPS/WMS system. The purpose of this paper is to give an overview of the current WMS testbed configuration and to present a statistical analysis of recent flight test results. |
