Abstract: | The 46th Test Group’s Guidance Test Squadron, also known as the Central Inertial Guidance Test Facility (CIGTF), is developing the Navigation Test and Evaluation Laboratory (NavTEL). NavTEL provides a “hardware in the loop” evaluation of proposed GPS integration schemes by generating computer modelled navigation sensor data information on a MIL-STD- 1553B (1553) data bus with a synchronized Global Position System (GPS) simulator (figure 1). This service reduces the technical risk of integration programs and flight testing by demonstrating compatibility between avionics units, To explain NavTEL further, a brief overview of NavTEL’s origination, design, and preliminary performance results is provided. |
