Abstract: | The accuracy of DGPS systems using a variety of equipment has been measumd under low dynamic conditions. An electric cart was instrumented with a reference system accurate to 10 cm in position and 3 cm/s in velocity. The test track consisted of a T shaped course with one leg 200 m long and the other 75 m. The course, on the apron of an airfield, was open and fairly level. The cart could accommodate three GPS receivers at a time and was used with at least two different receivers types at once during these tests. This allows for a direct comparison of receiver performance. The base station for the DGPS was 15 km away. Various equipment was used for both the reference station and the mobile receivers, Equipment tested used as in both roles included receivers from Ashtech, Magnavox, Novatel, and Trimble. All tests used only C/A signals, even if a receiver had dual frequency capability. These tests show excellent interoperability of equipment utilizing the RTCMSC-104 formats. The narrow correlator equipment performed best, with 1 meter level DGPS accuracies. The position and velocity error characteristics will be presented. |
