Abstract: | The paper outlines the international GPS observation campaigns EXTENDED SAGET (Satellite Geodynamic Traverses) organized by the Institute of Geodesy and Geodetic Astronomy of the Warsaw University of Technology in the last three years. The main objective of this project is to create a precise geodetic frame for geodynamic studies on the entire Teisseyre-Tomquist tectonic contact zone in Central Europe, investigation of the Carpathian Orogenic Belt and connection of the geodynamic networks and local geodynamic test fields of Central European countries. Project EXTENDED SAGET also supports the scientific research programme of CEI (Central European Initiative - former HEXAGONAL) member countries. The first GPS observation campaign of the EXTENDED SAGET project was organized from September 7th to September llth, 1992. Twenty- three GPS stations from 13 European countries participated in the campaign. All GPS observations were processed at the IGS Associate Analysis Centre in the IG&GA WUT. The BERNESE software was used. Two kinds of orbital data were applied: ephemeris CODE from the University of Beme, Switzerland and UTX from the University of Texas. A follow-up second EXTENDED SAGET’93 campaign was executed from August 2nd to August 6th, 1993. Thirty-six European stations from 14 countries participated in the campaign. The GPS campaign EXTENDED SAGET94 was organized from May 2nd to May 6th, 1994. It should be noted that the EXTENDED SAGET network joins the geodynamic networks existing in Europe for two regions essential to European geodynamics, i.e., for Scandinavia and for the Mediterranean Region. The paper also describes shortly the activities of the Institute permanent IGS (International GPS Service for Geodynamics) station Jozefoslaw. The permanent GPS observations are transmitted every day to CDDIS (USA), IfAG (Germany), Graz (Austria) and are used by the Swiss CODE group for permanent orbital GPS service. |
