Abstract: | Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers have been implemented in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) for specific purposes such as onboard navigation and as a means to provide location information in emergency situations. Currently, the GPS receiver is connected to a remote hardware device in the vehicle via a cable. This implementation is not only costly but also not very expandable. Specifically, it does not facilitate the passage of GPS information to other wireless devices. This paper outlines Bluetooth (BT) Wireless Technology and draws attention to the advantages of enabling a GPS receiver with Bluetooth technology inside a vehicle. Attention is drawn to data throughput, data integrity and data latency. |
