Absolute Positioning With GPS - an Accurate Alternative

Ola Ovstedal

Abstract: To eliminate or mitigate errors associated with the Standard Positioning Service provided by GPS, differential techniques have been developed. In many areas the distribution of data from the reference stations/network to the user is difficult, and methods based on postprocessing the observations is therefore an alternative for many geo-referencing purposes. This paper discusses and presents some results based upon an implementation of absolute positioning using precise ephemerides and satellite clock corrections.
