SAPPHIRE - Applying Draft ICAO/SARPs for GNSS

Abstract:	This paper presents the results produced by EUROCONTROL’s SAPPHIRE Project (Satellite & Air-craft Database Project for System Integrity Research) concerning the application of primary means of naviga-tion requirements defined by GNSSP/3 in April 1999. The overall objective of SAPPHIRE is to provide statis-tical evidence about the performance of satellite navi-gation systems in the airborne environment of com-mercial airliners and to determine to what extent they could be safely approved for operational use.
