Real-Time High Accuracy GPS Onboard Orbit Determination For Use On Remote Sensing Satellites

Lin Haas, Mark Pittelkau

Abstract: This paper presents a description of and performance results for the GPS Onboard Orbit Determination Software (GOODS) developed by Orbital Sciences for use on remote sensing satellites. GOODS is currently scheduled to fly on four Orbital-built spacecraft. The GOODS implementation, processing logic, and test program are described. Performance figures from Monte Carlo analyses, hardware simulations, and real tracking data are presented. These results show that GOODS is able to estimate position and velocity to better than 20 m and 0.02 m/s one-sigma, respectively.
