Abstract: | This paper discusses the verification of the Local Area Augmentation System (LAAS) Signal-in-Space (SIS) integrity monitoring method. To complete the LAAS architecture, the performance of the LAAS SIS integrity monitoring system with the selected Vertical/Lateral Protection Level (VPL/LPL) algorithms must be verified. A previous paper [1] described the LAAS SIS integrity monitoring and the plan for verifying the algorithms. Early results were presented showing that the ground fault detection and exclusion methodology effects the statistical characteristics of the resulting averaged pseudorange corrections. The analysis for the fault-free system was presented. This paper provides the theoretical results for the faulted system. The performance of the VPL/LPL algorithms is verified based on the analysis on both the fault-free and faulted system. It is shown that the underlying assumptions used in the selected integrity monitoring algorithms did not take into account the effect of the ground processing function. A modified algorithm is presented. Finally, possible improvements to the present algorithms are discussed. |
