Abstract: | Intermittent GPS performance had been experienced over a period of approximately four months during the testing phase of an integrated GPS/INS navigation system. Investigation into the problem revealed a TV RF source had created interference in a GPS RF distribution system by means of non-linear distortion in a pre-amplifier producing a harmonic frequency at very close to the LI band of 1575.42 MHz. With proper filtering, the 525.25 MHz fundamental was attenuated which consequently eliminated the nonlinear distortion in the pre-amp. The system performance subsequently improved due to an increase in the GPS signal to noise ratios. |
