A Method for Dissemination of DGPS Corrections by FM-RDS and Tests of Some GPS Receivers

Abstract:	Initial tests of a Norwegian system for distribution of DGPS corrections via FM-RDS was made in 1991. An operational system is now available based on the SATREF DGPS infrastructure. Distribution of DGPS via FM RDS requires an implementation significantly different from other correction links where no other information is transmitted. At the same time compatibility with RTCM 104 is necessary. An overview of requirements and design criteria for a FM-RDS based DGPS distribution system is presented, together with some test results. The tests demonstrate an accuracy of lm, (95% CEP) and compatibility with several GPS receivers currently available on the market.
