Dispenser Weapon System - Miniature Integrated GPS/INS Tactical System (DWS-MIGITS) Design and Performance

Michael K. Martin and John T. Nielson

Abstract: Design and performance of a low-cost, tightly-coupled integrated INS/GPS for a Non-Developmental Item (NDI) precision guided munition are described. A wide variety of next-generation precision guided munitions will benefit from integrated INS/GPS technology. For application to the Daimler-Benz Aerospace (DASA) Dispenser Weapon System (DWS) family of standoff weapons, Rockwell has developed a new member of its Miniature Integrated GPS/INS Tactical System (MIGITSTM) family of INS/GPS products - DWS- MIGITSTM. This paper describes the DWS-MIGITSTM product design and performance. To establish the application context, the DWS weapon family and the associated common modular Guidance and Control Package (GCP) avionics suite are first summarized. Then, DWS-MIGITSTM design details are discussed, and its performance specifications are presented. DWS-MIGITSTM, in conjunction with the DWS weapon family, provides an available, low cost, reliable ND1 solution to a variety of precision guided munition applications.
