Abstract: | This paper determines the sensitivity limit of a standalone (or autonomous) global positioning system (GPS) receiver. The sensitivity is limited to C/N0=24 dB due to the navigation data phase transition rate. Acquisition methods combining different coherent and incoherent integrations can be used to achieve this sensitivity limit and beyond. However, reliable navigation data cannot be obtained from signals below this sensitivity limit. |
