An attitude determination system with enhanced TTFF and settling time

Abstract: In this paper, we design an attitude determination system much more useful in the aspects of the cost, the installation, the maintenance and the settling time than the gyrocompass. The designed system can provide not only the heading but also the position, the velocity and the time. In addition, its TTFF(Time To First Fix) and the settling time are much shorter than the system that adopts an independent searching scheme. The system can also reduce reacquisition time by adopting a fast half cycle ambiguity resolution method which resolves it by comparing data sequences from two antennas. Some tests about TTFF, settling time and reacquisition time are conducted and the results are given. Also, the van test and the vessel test are carried out and the results are described.
