Time Transfer Using GPSCP and TWSTT between CRL and TL

Abstract: The GPS carrier phase (GPSCP) time transfer and two-way satellite time transfer (TWSTT) experiments between CRL in Japan and TL in Taiwan will be described in this paper. The time comparison results from these two experiments will be compared and discussed, too. As one knows, the purpose of international time comparisons is for the calculation of the international atomic time (TAI) and coordinated universal time (UTC). The GPS common-view method is the main time-transfer technique; however, the improvement in performance of atomic clocks and primary frequency sources stimulates the investigation of more precise and accurate time transfer techniques. Two outstanding techniques, the GPS carrier phase time transfer and two-way satellite time transfer, are researched in many timing laboratories. The two-way satellite time transfer experiment between CRL and TL began from June 2000 and the GPS carrier phase time transfer test started from November 2001. In this paper, we will describe the processing strategy for GPS carrier phase observables. The IGS precise ephemeris and clock products are adopted in our software to analyzed the GPS phase data of CRL and TL. Since the time difference between CRL and TL cannot be found via the GPS carrier phase data, the TWSTT results are used to determine the offset. Based on the test data, the results of the TWSTT and GPSCP experiments are consistent.
