Abstract: | The dream of GNSS satisfying the requirements for sole-means of navigation has failed. Today, the future of radionavigation is expected to be the integration of various different and - even more important - dissimilar systems, which augment each other and act as mutual back-up systems. To investigate the interrelation and possible future integration of GPS/EGNOS and Loran-C/Eurofix, the Loran-C/Eurofix/EGNOS Test & Validation Program (LOREG) has been developed and carried out by NELS, Telematica and TeleConsult Austria. The test measurements based on existing receiver technology have been started early this year and will continue until December 2002. The partners carrying out the measurement campaigns are situated in different European countries and cover the following fields of application: road, rail, maritime transport, surveying, military, and timing applications [1]. The paper provides an overview of the LOREG concept and describes the nature of the performed trials as well as first results of the data analysis. |
