Comparative Studies of Three Decorrelating Algorithms in AmbiguityResolution for Phase-only and Code-guided Cases

Yukihiro Kubo, Ryuhei Hata and Sueo Sugimoto

Abstract: In precise GPS positioning using carrier phase measurement, integer ambiguity resolution is essential. Generally, ambiguities are resolved via two steps, namely, float solution and search procedure. In this paper, three transformation techniques, i.e. Z-transformation used in the LAMBDA (Least squares AMBiguity Decorrelation Adjustment) method, the technique applied by LLL (Lenstra, Lenstra and Lov´asz) algorithm and the whitening filter approach, that decorrelate the covariance matrix of the float solution in the search procedure are compared from mathematical and computational point of view. Some comparative experiments using 2-dimensional computer simulation and real receiver data are made.
