Abstract: | With NASA’s return to the moon and resurgence of exploration missions, global search and rescue aided by GNSS systems becomes paramount to astronaut rescue and recovery. Use of the international Cospas-Sarsat program for crew safety was demonstrated on Artemis – I and provides the worldwide safety net for NASA’s explorers and all those engaged in risky adventures. This presentation focuses on the contributions modern GNSS systems provide to the Cospas-Sarsat program and their combined use for Artemis mission support and safe astronaut return.
