Considerations in SSR Corrections Format Design

Sudha Vana, Vijaykumar Bellad, Guangyu Zhou

Abstract: New generation applications require Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) correction data that is transmitted reliably and consistently at a lower data rate. In this work, existing open standard data formats were reviewed and analyzed. Furthermore, average satellite visibility analysis for regional and global level was performed to understand its consequences on bandwidth consumption. A new correction data format for Rx Networks TruePoint.io products is proposed and introduced that is based on the Compact state space representation (CSSR) format and is bandwidth efficient. Global as well as region-based bandwidth analysis for PPP-AR and PPP-RTK services were performed based on the results from the satellite visibility analysis. The proposed new format consumes 2-13% less bandwidth when compared to CSSR data format for a PPP-RTK service.
