Abstract: | The authentication of GNSS navigation messages has been an active research area in recent years owing to the concerns on GNSS-related attacks. The Open Service Navigation Message Authentication (OSNMA) has been used in the Galileo system for the authentication of navigation message and prevention from spoofing attacks. In the processing of Galileo signal for OSNMA, data from satellites need to be received continuously. An interruption of signal reception or a loss of data may hinder the authentication process. This paper investigates inter-satellite aiding for the restore of the HKROOT message and inter-receiver aiding for the reconstruction of the MACK message. In GNSS data processing, a network of receivers has been used in signal quality monitoring and provision of assistance and correction data. In the paper, the role is extended to address the authentication issue. More precisely, the celebrated A-GNSS is used to reduce the acquisition time, time-to-first-fix, and power consumption. The differential GNSS in code or carrier phase is employed to improve the accuracy and, to some extent, integrity. The proposed aiding scheme is capable of ensuing the continuous operation of receiver with authenticated position, velocity, and timing reports. A real-time software receiver, the AG3335A EVK, provided by AIROHA Technology Corporation, collected the data of OSNMA broadcast at I/NAV. A comparison will be made between the performance of a single receiver as well as that of two receivers working together in this experiment. In this experiment, the focus is on tag verification, specifically to determine whether two receivers transmitting data between themselves are more effective than a single receiver. The proposed assistance mechanisms can effectively reduce the risk of authentication failure due to OSNMA data loss. |
