A Low Power GPS L1 Front-End for Battery Operation

Francesco Piazza, Paolo Orsatti, Marco Cavadini and Alfredo Knecht

Abstract: The vast majority of today's GPS receiver IC's are not ideally suited for use in small portable devices, mainly because of excessive power consumption. The TChip TJIO04 GPS front-end is designed to specifically address these products. Requiring a minimum of external components, the chip consumes only 5.2mA at 2.2-3.6V, making it an ideal choice for battery.operated consumer applications.
