Satellite Failure Detection For EGNOS

Abstract:	Thales Avionics (formerly Racal Avionics) and NovAtel have developed the Satellite Failure Detection (SFD) or Signal Quality Monitoring (SQM) system for EGNOS. This paper describes the requirements and methodology used in this implementation, as well as providing experimental real life results that show the implementation meets the ICAO requirements. Test results with an RF simulator of 'evil waveforms' will be described. The key problem of minimising the effects of multipath will be presented.
