Abstract: | In this paper, the frequency transfer using GPS and GLONASS carrier phase measurements is discussed. The uncertainties of frequency transfer caused by GPS and GLONASS are evaluated, thus, the integration of GPS and GLONASS carrier phase observables can be performed. As one knows, comparisons of frequency units are essential for the realization of reliable frequency systems. Through satellite navigation systems, the national and international comparisons would be achieved adequately. However, the existing GPS C/A-code common-view technique could not get satisfying frequency transfer results since the improvements of frequency standards. To realize the goal, the carrier phase measurements from geodetic receivers are adopted in many researches. The phase observables are collected by two geodetic receivers driven by the atomic frequency standards, respectively. Under this circumstance, the single differences of carrier phases will reveal the relative performances of the two frequency sources. Both GPS and GLONASS can be regarded as the intermediate sensors for frequency transfer. Since the statistics of frequency sources computed via GPS or GLONASS carrier phase are not the same, the combination of these data should be processed carefully. The weighting average method is adopted in this paper and the weighting numbers are chosen based on the modified Allan deviation (MDEV). Two Ashtech GG24 GPS/GLONASS receivers with external frequency option are used in the experiments. The short baseline common Cesium clock test has been first conducted to evaluate the performance the proposed method. The experimental results show that the frequency stability is a few parts of 1016 for an averaging duration of near one day. Based on the experimental results, the GPS and GLONASS carrier phase measurements can be integrated successfully for frequency transfer. The potential applications include the remote frequency calibration between laboratories and the frequency monitoring in the telecommunication networks. |
