Abstract: | The paper discusses the integrity concept of an SBAS and shows that the concept requires detailed knowledge of the tails of the error distributions. Because such detailed knowledge cannot be obtained from measurement data, the assumption of gaussian distributions cannot be validated by such data alone. The search for a satisfying overbounding concept to enable the use of the SBAS integrity equation with non-gaussian errors has led to some interesting results, Nevertheless, the validation problem has not been satisfactory solved with the current proposals, as explained in the paper. |
