Abstract: In the EU, ERTMS is an essential part of the railway environment. One of its targets was and is to create an interoperable system for railway environment based on standards and rules, which apply to operators and suppliers. In last years, GNSS was acknowledged as an important sensor for the evolution of ERTMS. This document presents an approach for the qualification of GNSS-based reference equipment for assessing GNSS train equipment. Also, challenges for GNSS under consideration of sensor fusion are addressed. The Main focus is a presentation of qualification as an example according to processes in an accredited laboratory.
