Abstract: The automated generation of a robust real-time time scale with high accuracy, stability, availability and reliability is of crucial importance for several applications. Among them, the local realizations of the Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) by national laboratories, UTC(k), or the generation of the reference time of a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). In this work, we describe the current status and the developments of the generation of the Italian national time scale, UTC(IT), by reporting on the results of a 5-month experiment and on the recent implementation of the new automated procedure for the generation of UTC(IT).
