Abstract: | This paper deals with the design of applications of GPS system for tracking and navigation of the vehicle, the blind or the kids and so staff. To do this we developed a Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) with built-in GPS and CDMA modem both. Using this device we can track many kinds of things like the persons and the animals or all vehicles to be tracked. Also with our control center system, so called ANYTRACKTM, we can monitor the current status of those one in real-time so that we can get many information where is a car or a person , and also we can save those persons in emergency status like the purposes of E911 with our system. For the target to be tracked in near real-time with the accuracy of within 20meter(3ó) we must use a GPS receiver and a communication system such as TRS or CDMA network and other wireless network. Among these wireless we use a CDMA network and modem for this purpose. To increase the reliability of position information using Short Message Service(SMS) via CDMA network we developed and ported TCP/IP communication protocol on our designed MDT system. Additionally we need GIS system to monitor the target so we constructed GIS server room. The average time of arrival is about 3~7secs from terminal to server via SMS or TCP/IP and we could confirm the position of the target in near real-time. Our monitoring system can be applied to many areas such as AVL system and animal tracking, the security system for the vehicle stolen and all others to be tracked and to be known where I am. |
