Performance Improvement of the Attitude GPS Aided SDINS Alignment

Abstract: This paper proposes a new attitude GPS aided SDINS alignment scheme which can be applied even when fewer than four GPS satellites are tracked. The measurement equation is newly derived in order to utilize both the zero velocity information and the carrier phase measurements from the attitude GPS receiver. An integration filter is designed to combine these measurements and inertial solutions. In order to show the feasibility of the proposed alignment scheme, computer simulations and an experimental trial are carried out. The performance has been good even in comparison with the highly accurate INS, MAPS(Modular Azimuth Position System), used in the trials.
