Abstract: | As a kernel part of Intelligent Transportation System, GPS-based intelligent vehicle navigation system is now being intensely studied all over the world. In this paper, the outline of a newly developed intelligent land-vehicle navigation system is described fh-stly. Then, beginning in section II, several key technologies used in the system are discussed in detail. As an integrated system, land-vehicle navigation system consists of positioning module, geological information engine, route planning module, and route guidance module. In order to improve the system performance, the positioning error introduced by location system must be reduced. For this purpose, a data fusion algorithm based on federated kalman filter method is presented as the first key technology in this paper, which brings considerable enhancement to the reliability and the integrality of the GPS&DR integrated positioning system. The second key technology mentioned in this paper is a fussy-logic-based map matching algorithm, which is a software based method used to compensate the position error by correlating the trajectory of vehicle with the digital road network information. Another key technology, high efficient implementation of the shortest path algorithm, concerns the realization of route planning, a fundamental function of navigation system. At the end, an original devising scheme of in-vehicle navigation computer is proposed, which is based on windows CE, the latest embedded operating system, and the 32-bit RISC microprocessor Intel SA 1110. By this time, a sample machine of this new generation of land-vehicle navigation system has been developed successfully. Given the excellent performance of the sample machine in real-world testing, both the availability and the advantages of the key technologies presented in this paper have been demonstrated. |
