Time Dissemination - an Update

Kenneth Putkovich

Abstract: The original intent of this paper was to provide test results of the time transfers using a new Global Positioning System (GPS) Time Transfer Unit (TTU) developed for the U.S. Naval Observatory (USNO) by Stanford Telecommunications, Inc. (STI). As the TTU was not available for extensive testing at the USNO, only preliminary data were available at the time of the PTTI meeting. The scope of the paper was then changed to include several new developments in hardware and additions to services provided by the USNO in time dissemination in addition to reporting on results of time transfers utilizing the TTU and a new small portable atomic clock.
