A New SAE Standard for GPS Receivers

William Woodward and James L. Farrell

Abstract: If one word can encapsulate the significance of this submission, it’s in the middle of the above title. ‘Standard’ signifies a statement stronger than a powerful means for urgently needed solutions, stronger even than experimental proof validating those solutions. Rather than declaring how a solution should be approached, development of a standard indicates a major step that will be taken in that direction. A standard imposes requirements that must be met, as a precondition for acceptability.
