Abstract: | GalileoSat is the complementary programme of the European Space Agency (ESA) to Galileo, a European initiative for the definition, development, implementation, validation and operations of a state-of the art global satellite navigation system. The GalileoSat Programme comprises the definition, development and in-orbit validation of the Galileo Space- and related Ground Segment. The paper presents the ground segment architecture concept and the operational approach as presently defined in ESA’s GalileoSat Programme. It summarises the major requirements and constraints and addresses the various phases of the system deployment, validation and operations. The different aspects of the GalileoSat Ground Segment, namely the satellite and constellation control, the navigation mission control, the service interfaces and the regional integrity system, are described. The paper will conclude with the present status of definition for the GalileoSat Ground Segment and operations concept. |
