Abstract: NASDA had developed Engineering Test Satellite-VII (ETS-VII, Fig 1) consisted of two satellites, the chaser and target. ETS-VII is a test satellite to perform in-orbit demonstration of automated Rendezvous Docking (RVD) technology. ETS-VII was launched in 1997, and the automated RVD flight using relative GPS (RGPS) navigation was successfully performed in orbit. Two progressive experiments of RGPS navigation using carrier phase were performed in 1999. This paper presents the ETS-VII RGPS navigation system and the result of carrier phase RGPS navigation performed in July 1999, and also the post-flight analysis and evaluation.
