Abstract: This paper describes a method to derive stable fingerprint of the WLAN RSS (Received Signal Strength) for accurate indoor location estimation. In order to find stable values of received signals, we utilized the mode of each received signal from different access points. According to the pilot survey, the elimination of weak signals have significant effect on the accuracy improvement. The experimental result showed the sub-meter accuracy at the evaluation points. The obtained accuracy is considered as sufficient for our application of this location estimation system for the rescue of evacuees at disasters.
