Enhancement of GPS/INS Integrated System Performance Utilizing Frequency Domain Realization of INS Algorithms

Andrey Soloviev and Frank van Graas

Abstract: A new approach for improving INS accuracy is proposed. The approach is based on frequency-domain development of the INS algorithmic part. As a first step towards the INS frequency-domain development, the paper introduces a frequency-domain INS calibration procedure, and applies frequency-domain calibration techniques for the centimeter-level accurate DGPS/low-grade INS. It is demonstrated that the proposed frequency-domain calibration methods allow suppression of conventional calibration drawbacks. In particular, test results indicate an order of magnitude methodical error reduction and compensation for unbounded degradation of inertial accuracy in singularity cases.
